I bought this toy for my daughter on her first birthday. As a kid, my brother had an older version of this toy and I was expecting that when I puchased the Chicco Animal Cottage. In that sense I was a little disappointed. The plastic is much thinner and flimsier, the doors pop open easily without using the key, and the animals can fit through some of the holes at the top meant for the shapes. That being said, it is still a fun toy and both my one and four year old enjoy playing with it.

Our 22 month old son has shown a lot of interest in keys and locks. I found this toy and at the price thought I'd give it a try. It's got animal and shape blocks and hole that are fun but the key is what we really wanted. Overall its a good toy, not necessarily any better than any other put the block in the right shaped hole. The plastic is very thin and the "lock" components are the thinest plastic. I'm sure it won't last longer than a month of heavy playing but it will be fun until then.

Really teaches toddlers not only shapes and colors, but that a key wont fit just any door. Matching is essential. Great for an inquisitive mind.

I had one of these when I was little! It was one of my favorite toys, I loved that I had my own set of keys that actually opened something. I can't wait to give this to my kid as a gift, I'm sure she'll love it as much as I did.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my son who loves keys and tries to lock everything with my car keys! The shapes and animals are great in teaching color. The drop slots are perfect for fine motor skills. The only problem is my son has a hard time with the concept of holding in the door and turning the key to lock it all at the same time. I don't think, at two years old, that children have the ability to to this. At this point my son gets frustrated with it but I am sure he will learn how to do it eventually.

Not that functional when the top keeps opening up so easy! If I stay whit my son I can have him play with it the right way but when I leave him, he just opens the top and gets the toys in and out hehe

I really dislike this toy. The keys and locks are nearly impossible for my child to use and she gets very frustrated. I'm glad this was a gift but am completely baffled at how many lame toys are produced. Don't they have focus groups for this kind of item? We hate it. Do not buy.

This toy will be used for an extended period of time. The toy comes with keys that are inserted into the doors. The keys are color coded to the specific door. I can see that this is a more advanced developmental skill than a 13 month old baby possesses. This makes the toy have a longer life

This is the best toy ever for learning color, shapes and hand-eye coordination. My son had one when was little, so I purchased this one for my grandson. He plays with it for hours and never gets bored! The keys challenge him the most, but he's a go-getter and loves them.

Color-coded animals, doors, and keys? And the concept of a master key? This toy may not be Playmobil quality but it's a mini-zoo's worth of fun. As the two-year-old said, "open the green door. green door and the yellow door. and white door. and people in it. the doors go open it! oh no! I locked it I locked it! I lock door. I lock door. I see it now."
